There are many tools that attempt to forecast when an Item will become End of Production in the future based on algorithms, which themselves are based on historical analysis of a similar item’s length of production.

It must be remembered that these are forecasts, ‘guestimates’, and should be treated with a little scepticism when a forecast exceeds 3-4 years.

Such forecasts cannot take into account unforeseen events such as pandemics (covid is an example), conflicts (e.g. Russian invasion of Ukraine), or other events that can disrupt product manufacturing which in turn affects component manufacturers’ willingness to continue the production of certain items.

The output of such forecasting tools should be treated as a guide, not as a 100% reliable indicator of End of Production of an item.
