Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages.
This is an Obsolescence Management Strategy used by the US Department of Defense.
The definition is: “The loss or impending loss of manufacturers of items or suppliers of items or raw materials.”
It is separate and distinct from IEC: 62402, although both aim to reduce component/material obsolescence effects on products/systems.
